Biography:

Dr. Prewitt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He completed his internal medicine residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Colorado, his cardiology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Prewitt was an attending cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. During that time, he held several positions including Director of the Coronary Care Unit, Director of the Cardiology Clinic, and Co-Director of the Vascular Medicine Service. Since 1995, Dr. Prewitt has been in private practice in Virginia and Maryland and was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. Currently, he is the Director of Coronary Intervention for Midlantic Cardiovascular Associates and was previously an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University. Dr. Prewitt is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology and endovascular procedures. He has developed an extensive expertise in cardiac and peripheral interventions and has published numerous articles and given several national presentations about cardiac and peripheral disease. He is an investigator in several large trials with his research interests including drug-coated stents, covered stents, and renal artery disease.
